Birthplace: Salisbury, Missouri Resided In: Emerson, Iowa Zelma Straight, age 92, of Emerson, Iowa passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2001 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak. Zelma Beatrice Straight was born February 20, 1909 in Salisbury, Missouri the daughter of Harry and Sara (Veirs) Sellers. Zelma was united in marriage to Ivan Straight on June 5, 1929 in Atlantic, Iowa. They lived all of their lives in the Henderson and Emerson, Iowa area. Ivan preceded her in death on December 18, 1977. Zelma was a member of the First Baptist Church in Emerson, Iowa. She loved to quilt and enjoyed her gardening. Zelma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; son: Ivan, Jr.; daughter Dorothy Groves; and 2 grandchildren. Survivors include her 4 sons: Kenneth Straight and his wife Nancy of Fountain Hills, Arizona; Larry Straight and his wife Barbara of Emerson, Iowa; Dale Straight and his wife Sheri of Poulsbo, Washington; and Phillip Straight of Merrimack, New Hampshire; daughter: Dolores Elkins and her husband James of Annaheim, California; 21 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Bonnie Perley and her husband John of Newton, Kansas; and Genevieve Janson and her husband Eric of Andrew, South Carolina; a brother: Rae Sellers and his wife Gloria of Salisbury, Missouri; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Saturday, August 4, 2001 at the Emerson Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Pries officiating. Burial will be in the Emerson, Iowa Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7-8 PM Friday, August 3, 2001 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Emerson Baptist Church. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak is in charge of arrangements.
