Birthplace: Essex, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Willis J. "Bill" Youngberg, age 81, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at his home. Willis John "Bill" Youngberg was born February 5, 1926 in Essex, Iowa the son of Arthur Nathaniel and Agnes Ruth (Wiggert) Youngberg. The family moved to the Red Oak area when Willis was middle school age. After attending school, Bill worked at a service station and later farmed with his brother Howard. Bill was united in marriage to Darlene Peterson on February 8, 1946 in Essex, Iowa. That same year he started working for Kozy Air. He also worked for the Farmers Mercantile. In 1953, Willis and his brother, Robert, opened the Standard Oil Station in Red Oak as independent contractors, and operated it until Bill and Darlene later purchased it and renamed it Youngberg Standard. Bill retired in 1986 and the business was sold in 1988 to his son, Tom, who operates it, today, as Red Oak Shell. Bill was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was a former member of the International Order of Oddfellows. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Howard, Wayne, and Robert. Survivors include his wife: Darlene Youngberg of Red Oak, Iowa; sons: Dennis Youngberg and wife Sharon and Tom Youngberg and friend Margaret Stoldorf all of Red Oak, Iowa; daughters: Tereasa Moore and husband Ernie of Rio Rancho, New Mexico and Sara LeRette and husband Kent of Red Oak, Iowa; grandchildren: Trisha Gray and husband Andy of Red Oak, Iowa; Tiffanie Moore of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Donell Duran and friend Rachel Olascoaga of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; Melisa Baier and husband Dr. Fritz Baier of Red Oak, Iowa; Arron LeRette of Red Oak, Iowa, MaKayla LeRette of Red Oak, Iowa; great grandchildren: Jordan; Dahlas; Kaylyana; Raelynn; Albany; and Hannah; sisters: Marilyn Carlson and husband Lynn of Green Valley, Arizona and Irene Boyer of Shenandoah, Iowa; sisters-in-law: Jody Henningsen and husband Tom of Atlantic, Iowa; Charlotte Markt of California; and Ruth Youngberg of Midland, Texas; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Friday, May 11, 2007 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Thursday, May 10, 2007 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Heartland Hospice or the Red Oak Rescue Unit. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
