Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Manhattan, Kansas William Everett "Bill" Wilson, age 73, of Manhattan, Kansas passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at his home. Bill was born May 5, 1941 in Red Oak, Iowa the son of Frank and Enid (Snodgrass) Wilson and was baptized at the Emerson United Methodist Church. He graduated from Wales Lincoln High School in 1958, attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, and later attended school at Kirksville graduating with a teaching degree. He taught and coached in Topeka and later Dodge City, Kansas retiring after many years. He was the Executive Director of the Kansas Coaches Association for many years and was always very active with sports. Even in retirement, Bill was a timekeeper for many athletic events. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling, having toured most of the 50 states. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister; brother-in-law: Steve Thompson; and niece: Joan Rinehart. Survivors include his siblings: Frank Wilson of Carroll, IA; Jeanne Wilson of Kearney, NE; Rosemary Erickson and husband Dale of Atlantic, IA; and Betty Jo Bachand and husband Mike of Ft. Collins, CO; nieces and nephews: Calli Jo Bachand and Jason Bachand of Ft. Collins, CO; Mike Thompson and wife Dawn of Lewis, IA; David Thompson and wife Jennifer of Norwalk, IA; Marcie Stephens and husband Craig of Pleasanton, NE; Christopher Erickson of Anita, IA; John Rinehart, Sr. of Carroll, IA; and Jackie Berry of Carroll, IA; great nieces and nephews: Devon and Bradden Thompson of Lewis, IA; Cassie Stephens of Omaha, NE; Terry Stephens of Pleasanton, NE; John Rinehart, Jr. of Carroll, IA; Jenny Schwery and husband David of Ames, IA; and Jill Woodward and husband Shaun of Carroll, IA; great great great nieces: Savannah, Brianna, and Emma Woodward of Carroll, IA; and many other relatives and friends. A celebration of life service will be held 11 AM Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held from 9-11 AM prior to the service at the funeral home. Cremation will take place after the service and burial will take place at a later date at the Emerson, Iowa Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Kansas Coaches Association. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
