Birthplace: Walnut, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Wilbur Wendt, age 84, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Sunday, January 12, 2003 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Wilbur Marvin Wendt was born November 30, 1918 on a farm near Walnut, Iowa the son of Fred John and Sophie (Grulke) Wendt. He grew up near Walnut and Atlantic. Wilbur started farming at a young age with his father near Walnut, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Laura Lorraine White on December 6, 1941 in Grant City, Missouri. They lived in Montgomery County, Iowa all of their married life. Wilbur retired in 1985 and moved into Red Oak. At a young age, Wilbur enjoyed coaching baseball and loved the St. Louis Cardinals. Later in life, Wilbur and Lorraine enjoyed camping and spending time in Texas and Arizona during the winter months. But most of all, Wilbur loved his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son Marvin; twin sister: Winnifred Murray, an infant brother; granddaughters: Barbara Reynolds; Judy Reynolds; and Jane Reynolds. Survivors include his wife: Lorraine Wendt of Red Oak, Iowa; children: Phyllis Reynolds of Red Oak, Iowa; Larry Wendt and his wife Cindy of Lawrence, Kansas; Bev Kammerer and her husband Terry of Red Oak, Iowa; and Fred Wendt and his wife Cindy of Red Oak, Iowa; 10 grandchildren: David Reynolds of Elliott, Iowa; Amy Bechen and her husband Steve of Moville, Iowa; Tim Kammerer and his wife Sara of Stanton, Iowa; Barb Pappas and her husband Ron of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Bob Reynolds and his wife Nancy of Atlantic, Iowa; Michelle Linn and her husband Andrew of Pierson, Iowa; Mark Wendt of Anthon, Iowa; Julie Reynolds of Red Oak, Iowa; Aaron Wendt and his wife Heidi of Red Oak, Iowa; and Lindsey Wendt of Red Oak, Iowa; 21 great grandchildren; 3 sisters: Alma Tessman of Atlantic, Iowa; Evelyn Tessman of Audubon, Iowa; and Genevieve Bishop of Merrian, Kansas; 2 brothers: Ervin Wendt of San Diego, California; and Everette Wendt of Audubon, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Thursday, January 16, 2003 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Nancy Schultz officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8 PM Wednesday, January 15, 2003 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Wilbur Wendt Memorial Fund. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak is in charge of arrangements.
