Birthplace: Montgomery County, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Wayne Strait, age 75, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2002 at the Good Samaritan Care Center. Wayne Marvin Strait was born February 25, 1927 on the family farm in Montgomery County, Iowa the son of Charles and Elsie (Drake) Strait. Wayne lived and farmed all of his life on the family farm northwest of Red Oak. He was united in marriage to Joanne Johnson on July 16, 1954 in Essex, Iowa. Wayne was a member of the Stratton United Methodist Church and the Benevolent and Protective Order Of Elks #1304. Wayne also enjoyed raising cattle as a hobby. Preceding him in death were his parents; brother: Ralph; and sister: Pauline. Survivors include his wife of 48 years: Joanne Strait of Red Oak, Iowa; son: John Strait of Red Oak, Iowa; and daughter: Vicki Strait of Elliott, Iowa; 2 grandchildren: Jamie Strait and Nicholas Strait both of Red Oak, Iowa; sister: Dorothy Doss and her husband Gene of Fresno, California; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Saturday, September 21, 2002 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Janice Carlton officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7-8 PM Friday, September 20, 2002 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Red Oak Rescue Unit or the Heartland Hospice. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak is in charge of arrangements.
