Obituary

Birthplace: Shambaugh, Iowa Resided In: Clarinda, IA formerly of Red Oak, IA Wayne Campbell, age 82, of Clarinda, Iowa formerly of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at the Clarinda Regional Health Center after an extended illness. Wayne Dwight Campbell was born May 10, 1921 in Shambaugh, Iowa the son of William "Bill" and Ethel (Harrison) Campbell. He was raised in the Clarinda area, served his country during World War II in the Army, and was a member of the American Legion. Wayne operated the Deep Rock filling station in Clarinda for many years as well as driving a gas transport truck for the Farm Bureau. Wayne was united in marriage to Helen Smith in 1974 at Clarinda, Iowa. After retirement Wayne moved to Rogers, Arkansas for a short time. He moved back to Glenwood, Iowa and eventually Red Oak. While in Red Oak Wayne worked for Orscheln's before he fully retired. Preceding Wayne in death were his parents; a son: David Campbell; wife: Helen Campbell on January 15, 1998; 2 sisters: Deloris Williams and Opal Pratt; and a brother: Wilbur Campbell. Survivors include his son: Mac Campbell and his wife Becky of N. Webster, Indiana; daughter: Sharon Schultz and her husband Larry of Greeley, Colorado; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Wanda Gage and Shirley Bengard both of Clarinda, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2PM Friday, November 21, 2003 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak with Rev. JoAnn Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 7-8 PM Thursday, November 20, 2003 at the Nelson- Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak is in charge of arrangements.
