Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Walter Lee Major, age 60, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Friday, August 2, 2019 at his place of work in Oakland, Iowa. Walt was born February 20, 1959 in Red Oak, Iowa the son of Walter L. Major and Darlene Thorn Major. He was raised in Red Oak and received his GED in 1987. He served in the United States Marine Corps and then attended Iowa Western Community College where he earned an Electromagnetic Engineering Degree. He lived most of his life in Red Oak and worked for several different companies including NSK in Clarinda, TRACO in Red Oak where he drove a semi-truck from coast to coast, and currently was working for OSI Oakland Food Processing in Oakland, Iowa. Walt was passionate about his family, his accomplishments in life and his belief in God. He was a man of honor and truth. His family and friends will remember him for these admirable qualities. Walt had been attending Grace Baptist Church. His hobbies included hunting and fishing. He lived his life to the fullest and gave his all to anything he did. Preceding him in death were his parents. Survivors include his sister: Linda Major; brother: Ralph Major; nephew: Hollis Major; niece: Tanya Major all of Red Oak; many great nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Sunday, August 11, 2019 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the funeral. Interment services will be held on Monday, August 12, 2019 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Red Oak. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
