Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Keokuk, Iowa Virginia Baker, age 86, of Keokuk, Iowa passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at the Keokuk area Hopsital. Virginia B. (Brannock) Baker was born September 1, 1918 in Red Oak, Iowa the daughter of Howard and Cecil (Reimers) Brannock. Virginia moved to the Washington, D.C. area during WWII. She was united in marriage to Fred Baker in 1962. Over the years she worked in a number of government offices including the Pentagon and the House Ways and Means Committee. She and Fred later owned and operated Sterling Moving and Storage Company in Falls Church, Virginia where they operated for Wheaton Van Lines. She was a member of the Resurrection Lutheran Church in Arlington, Virginia, the Falls Church Lions and Lioness Clubs, a longtime volunteer and patron of the Kennedy Center and a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Red Oak. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband: Fred Baker; as well as aunts and uncles. Survivors include her sister: Lillian Brannock Sutlive of Keokuk, Iowa; two nephews: B. Howard "Howie" Sutlive and wife Amy of Keokuk, Iowa; and Charles "Lindy" Baker and wife Evelyn of Vienna, Virginia; many great nieces and great nephews in Iowa and Virginia. Graveside services will be held 11 AM Friday, December 24, 2004 at the Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. Nancy Schultz officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 10-10:45 AM Friday, December 24, 2004 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Family and friends may gather during this time to proceed to the cemetery in procession. Memorials are suggested to the Resurrection Lutheran Church, 6201 N. Washington Blvd., Arlington, VA 22205. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
