Birthplace: Montgomery County, Iowa Resided In: Clarinda, Iowa Violet M. Stevenson, age 84, of Clarinda, Iowa formerly of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at the Westridge Care and Rehab Center in Clarinda, Iowa. Violet Mae Stevenson was born September 3, 1920 in Montgomery County, Iowa the daughter of James and Cordella (Hooper) Summers. She was raised in Montgomery County and was united in marriage to Edgar Stevenson on July 1, 1937 in Red Oak, Iowa. They were lifelong residents of Southwest Iowa. Violet was a homemaker and enjoyed being involved in the neighborhoods clubs throughout the years. She also enjoyed her grandkids, puzzles, cooking, shopping and going out to eat. Violet was known for her large collection of teddy bears. Violet was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Edgar Stevenson on June 15, 2001; sister: Blanche Kinnison; 3 brothers: Lee, Lyman, and Cecil Summers; and a grandson: Robert Marckmann. Survivors include her 2 daughters: Shirley Weil and husband Richard of California; and Connie Stevenson of Clarinda, Iowa; grandchildren: Jim Marckmann and wife Stephanie of Clarinda, Iowa; Eddie Marckmann and wife Carolyn of Branson, Missouri; Rick Weil and wife Amy of Malvern, Iowa; Cheryl Harrison and husband Allen of California; and Nickey Smith and husband Glenn of California; great grandchildren: Zachary, Michael, Garret, A.J., and Nathaniel all of Clarinda, Iowa; Krista, Shiloh, Keegan, and Cheyenne all of Malvern, Iowa; Michael and Christopher of California; Robby of Creston, Iowa; and Gabriel of Murray, Iowa; 2 sisters-in-law: Peggy Cassell of California; and Darlene Summers of Omaha, Nebraska; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, January 15, 2005 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Nancy Schultz officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 4-6 PM Friday, January 14, 2004 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the family. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
