Birthplace: Lyons, Nebraska Resided In: Torrance, California Venoy Lenard "Shorty" Dahlin, age 77 of Torrance, California formerly of Elliott, Iowa passed away, Sunday, June 22, 2003 at his home in Torrance, California. Venoy was born September 29, 1925, in Lyons, Nebraska, the son of Henning and Anna (Hallberg) Dahlin. Venoy moved to Elliott at a very young age. He attended school and graduated from the Elliott High School. Venoy served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was united in marriage to Rosa Perdue on June 26, 1949, in Montgomery County, Iowa. They moved to Torrance, California in 1957 where Venoy was a carpenter. He was an honorary member of the NRA. Venoy is preceded in death by two infant daughters: Janell and Cindy and a grandson, Duane Ferrell. Survivors include his wife: Rosa Dahlin of Torrance, California; two daughters: Melody Bivens and her husband Bert of Caliente, California; and Pamela Feldbusch of Torrance, California; four grandchildren: Janell Feldbusch of Irvine, California; Leann Feldbusch of Long Beach, California; Branden McCullar of Bakersfield, California; and Casey McCullar of Seattle, Washington; one brother: Marvin Dahlin of Elliott, Iowa; and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, June 27, 2003 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak with Rev. Gordon Scott officiating. Burial will be at the Hillside Cemetery in Elliott, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be from 7-8 PM on Thursday, June 26, 2003 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak is in charge of arrangements.
