Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Vaughn L. Dobbs, age 58, of Red Oak, Iowa passed way at his home, Saturday, August 4, 2007 after a brief illness. Vaughn Lee Dobbs was born July 8, 1949 in Red Oak, Iowa the son of Gene and Colleen (McMahon) Dobbs. Vaughn was raised in Red Oak graduating from Red Oak High School in 1968. He attended and graduated from Iowa Western Community College in 1970 at which time he entered the United States Army during Vietnam. After returning from his military service, Vaughn did electrical work for several years before going to work for the Natural Gas Pipeline as a technician. He retired in 2007 after 28 years of employment. Vaughn loved fishing, golfing, and riding his three wheeled motorcycle. He was also an avid Kansas City Chiefs football fan. Vaughn was preceded in death by his father: Gene Dobbs on July 28, 2004. Survivors include his mother: Colleen Dobbs of Emerson, Iowa; son Nicholas Dobbs of Jasper, Missouri; daughter: Jo Ellen Humphrey and husband Kwanza of Shawnee Mission, Kansas; daughter-in-law: Christina Dobbs of Webb City, Missouri; grandchildren: A.J. Dobbs, Trinity Dobbs, and Jonas Humphrey; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Saturday, August 11, 2007 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Friday, August 10, 2007 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Vaughn will be cremated after the funeral services and burial will be at a later date at the Evergreen Cemetery with military honors. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
