Obituary

Birthplace: Kirksville, Missouri Resided In: Papillion, NE formerly of Emerson, IA Vance T. White age 92 of Papillion, Nebraska formerly of Emerson, Iowa passed away Thursday, January 31, 2008 at the Huntington Park Care Center in Papillion, Nebraska. Vance White was born January 13, 1916 in Kirksville, Missouri the son of William Arthur and Edna Almira (Bondurant) White. Vance was raised in Missouri and Iowa. In 1938, he moved to the Emerson area where he worked on a farm. On February 6, 1939 he married Julia Haney in Rockport, Missouri. Vance and Julia lived in the Emerson area where Vance continued working on a farm and worked at the Chevrolet garage in Emerson. Vance was drafted and served in the Navy during WWII. After the war, he worked for the Iowa Highway Commission and then the Natural Gas Pipeline Company until retiring in 1978. Vance lived in Emerson until moving to the Huntington Park Care Center in 2004. Vance was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Julia on February 22, 2004; a sister, four brothers and a grandson: Franklin White. He is survived by his daughter: Jacqueline Evans and husband Earl of Omaha, Nebraska; son: Vance "Neil" White and wife Sandra of Valley, Nebraska; grandson: Jon White and wife Stephanie of Valley, Nebraska; great granddaughter: Samantha White of Valley, Nebraska; sister-in-law: Myrtle Lemons of Emerson, Iowa and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, February 4, 2008 at the Emerson Cemetery, Emerson, Iowa with Rev. Nancy Schultz officiating. Burial will be in the Emerson, Iowa Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held at 10 AM, on Monday, February 4, 2008 at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak, Iowa. Family and friends will go in procession to the cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Make A Wish Foundation. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak is in charge of arrangements.
