Birthplace: Leon, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Valerie Thompson, age 50, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Monday, October 10, 2005 at her residence. Valerie Lynn Thompson was born February 9, 1955 in Leon, Iowa the daughter of Melvin and Mary Jo (Reynolds) Kain. Valerie attended East High School in Des Moines, Iowa and later Americana Beauty School in Des Moines. She was united in marriage to Melvin Thompson on February 14, 1976 in Des Moines. After their marriage Valerie and Melvin lived in the New Virginia, Iowa area and later were transferred to Texas with Melvin's job. Valerie became a Medical Technician while living in Texas. In 1996 Melvin's job moved them to Red Oak. Valerie was preceded in death by her father: Melvin Kain on September 16, 2004. Survivors include her husband: Melvin Thompson of Red Oak, Iowa; children: Dawn Muselman of Osceola, Iowa and Casey Thompson of Red Oak, Iowa; grandchildren: Trent and Luke Muselman both of Osceola, Iowa; her mother: Mary Jo Kain of Des Moines, Iowa; brothers: Michael Kain and wife Kim of Des Moines; and Scott Kain and wife Dora of Des Moines; and many other relatives and friends. There will be no services for Valerie Thompson. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
