Obituary

Birthplace: Taylor County, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Truman Hardee, age 85, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Saturday, November 23, 2002 at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Red Oak. Truman Marian Hardee was born April 25, 1917 in Taylor County, Iowa the son of Walter and Amy (Hayes) Hardee. He graduated from the Nodaway High School in 1936. He served in the United States Army during WWII and was united in marriage to Helen Hamilton on April 4, 1944 in Clarinda, Iowa. Truman worked as a farm hand for many years moving to Red Oak in 1952. He retired in 1985 after working for 25 years with the Wearin family. He loved his hobby of woodworking and was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Helen in 1989; and 2 sisters: Thelma Sparks and Treva Young. Survivors include his son: Duane Hardee and his wife Tessa of Red Oak, Iowa; 2 daughters: Elaine Meads and her husband Ron of Red Oak, Iowa; and Loraine Ross and her husband Rick of Des Moines, Iowa; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sister: Theola Norris of Bedford; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. Graveside funeral services will be held 2 PM Tuesday, November 26, 2002 at the Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. Chris Burgett officiating. Visitation will be held from 7-8 PM Monday, November 25, 2002 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Family and friends may meet at 1 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home to go to the cemetery in procession. Memorials are suggested to the Church of the Nazarene or the Diabetes Foundation in lieu of flowers. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
