Birthplace: Malvern, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Toby Taylor, age 96, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2005 at the Good Samaritan Care Center. Toby Taylor was born February 15, 1909 in Malvern, Iowa the daughter of Harvey and Emily (Clary) Knight. She was raised in Malvern and graduated from Malvern High School. She was united in marriage to Sam C. Taylor on April 2, 1932 in Rock Port, Missouri. They lived and farmed most of their married life near Henderson, Iowa until moving into Red Oak in 1973. Over the years Toby was a very active member of the Henderson Christian Church and the Red Oak Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Ladies Aid and Church Circle as well as the American Legion Auxiliary. Toby was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Sam C. Taylor on July 28, 1993; her son: Robert Taylor on March 7, 1994; her sisters: Florence, Katherine, and Claire; and brothers: Harvey, Hartley, DeVere, and Jack. Survivors include her daughter: JoAnn Houser and husband Gerald "Scoop" Houser of Red Oak, Iowa; grandchildren: Kristi Turman of Eagle, Nebraska; Julie Barclay and husband Curt of Shenandoah, Iowa; Carol Martin and husband Randy of Eagle, Nebraska; and Kenneth Houser of Red Oak, Iowa; great grandchildren: Matt Turman of Chicago, Illinois; Molly Turman of Sioux City, Iowa; Melissa Turman of Hinton, Iowa; Marcus Turman of Eagle, Nebraska; Kira Barclay Sisson and husband Ryan of Urbandale, Iowa; Josh Martin of Eagle, Nebraska; and Zachary Martin of Eagle, Nebraska; sister: Betty Bauman of Creston, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, November 4, 2005 at the Red Oak Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dee Jay Reiff officiating. Burial will be in the Farm Creek Cemetery at Henderson, Iowa. There will be open visitation at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Red Oak Presbyterian Church or the American Legion Auxiliary. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
