Birthplace: Englewood, CO Resided In: Griswold, IA Thomas Edwin Shellberg, age 78, of Griswold, Iowa, passed away Monday, October 30, 2017 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Tom was born February 11, 1939 in Englewood, Colorado the son of Edwin and Alice (Quinn) Shellberg. The family moved to the Elliott area when Tom was five years old. He graduated from Elliott High School in 1956 and attended Iowa State University and Northwest Missouri State University. Tom was united in marriage to Joy Baker on February 6, 1960 in Griswold. Joy preceded him in death in 1989 and Tom later was united in marriage to Roberta Kimpson Moore on August 11, 1990 in Griswold, Iowa. In his early working career, he worked for his father-in-law at Baker Trucking and farmed with his father, Edwin. He became a business owner when he and Richard Peterson bought S & M Oil Company. In 1990, Tom went out on his own operating TBS Plumbing, Heating, and Air Conditioning. Tom was active in the Griswold Community where he served on the Telephone Board for 27 years; Griswold Country Club Board for 9 years; and the Griswold School Board for 9 years. He enjoyed playing golf, playing cards, and was a sports enthusiast always cheering on the Iowa State Cyclones. His greatest joy came from watching his children and grandchildren play sports throughout the years. Preceding him in death were his parents; wife: Joy; daughter: Cathy Wyman; and sister: Nancy Williams. Survivors include his wife: Roberta Shellberg of Griswold, Iowa; children: Patricia Probasco and husband Rick of Moulton, IA; Teresa Milner of Omaha, NE; Tami Cull and husband Clark of Council Bluffs, IA; Linda Leighton and husband Brad of Springfield, IL; and Jaci Smith and husband Michael of Griswold, IA; step-children: Teresa Sempeck and husband Bob of Omaha, NE and Scott Moore and wife Nikkie of Tulsa, OK; 21 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; brothers: Jerry Shellberg and wife Barb of LaVista, NE and Gail Shellberg and wife Shirley of Windsor, CO; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, November 3, 2017 at the Griswold Community Building. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service at the community building. Burial will take place at a later date at the Hillside Cemetery in Elliott, Iowa. A memorial fund is being established in Tom's memory. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel of Red Oak is in charge of arrangements.
