Birthplace: Memphis, TN Resided In: Red Oak, IA Thomas Roy "Tom" Jarrett, age 71, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019 at his residence. Tom was born June 20, 1947 in Memphis, Tennessee the son of Roy and Velma (Pehrson) Jarrett. He graduated from Red Oak Community High School in 1965 and served in the United States Army in Vietnam. Upon his return from service, he attended Bellevue University where he received a degree in business. Tom was united in marriage to Judy Magneson on April 26, 1969 in Council Bluffs, Iowa and two children were born to this union: Amy and TR. Tom worked in the computer industry for over 30 years. He worked for Control Data in Omaha for many years and then moved to California. Tom returned to Red Oak in 1994 where he worked and retired from CDS. Tom loved tinkering in his shop, working on his Corvette, watching sports, and watching movies. Tom was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his daughter: Amy Sura and husband Mark of San Ramone, CA; son: TR Jarrett and wife Angie of Kearney, MO; grandchildren: Isabella and Olivia Ng of San Ramone, CA and Tatum, Tommy, Tyler, and Travis Jarrett of Kearney, MO; brothers: Dennis Jarrett of Atlantic, IA; Don Jarrett and wife Cathy of Red Oak, IA; and Larry Cooper and wife Wanda of Wales, IA; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. A celebration of life service will be held 11 AM Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at the Faith Community Church. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
