Birthplace: Rural Grant, Iowa Resided In: Morton Mills, Iowa Thelma Taylor, age 88, of Morton Mills, Iowa passed away Thursday, April 14, 2005 at the Good Samaritan Center in Red Oak. Thelma Lois Taylor was born April 29, 1916 east of Grant, Iowa the daughter of Roy and Estella (Curry) Hines. Estella later married Merrill Foote whom Thelma thought of as her father. She was raised in the Grant area graduating from the Grant High School. Thelma was united in marriage to Lloyd Taylor on July 25, 1934. To this union six children were born. Thelma and Lloyd lived in the Grant and Morton Mills areas all of their lives. Thelma started working for the Good Samaritan Center in Red Oak in 1974 as a housekeeper. She was promoted to House Keeping Supervisor in 1977. Thelma became the Housekeeping and Laundry Supervisor in 1981 and retired in 1989 after 15 years of service. She was a member of the Grant United Methodist Church, the Grant United Methodist Women, and the Morton Mills Ladies Aid, as well as many other clubs that she enjoyed. Preceding her in death was her infant daughter: Barbara Jean; her parents; husband Lloyd Taylor; son: Ronald Taylor; brother-in-law: Ross Adams; and sister-in-law: Lucille Foote. Survivors include her 3 sons: Lynn Taylor and wife Sandy of Morton Mills, Iowa; Melvin Taylor and wife Mary of Merrimack, New Hampshire; and Greg Taylor and wife Marlene of Morton Mills, Iowa; daughter: Janette Motley and husband Jerry of Niwot, Colorado; daughter-in-law: Jeannette Taylor of Red Oak, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; honorary daughter: Diane Nealeigh and husband Ron of Trenton, Nebraska; 2 sisters: Beatrice Adams of Griswold, Iowa; and Phyllis Schuler and husband Junior of Atlantic, Iowa; 2 brothers: Lawrence Foote and wife Billie Ann of Stanton, Iowa; and Edwin Foote and wife Marilyn of Stanton, Iowa; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at the Grant United Methodist Church with Pastor Gerald Wiser officiating. Burial will be in the Grant, Iowa Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Monday, April 18, 2005 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak is in charge of arrangements.
