Thelma "Jean" Ratcliff, age 92, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at the Accura Healthcare of Stanton, Iowa. Jean was born August 20, 1931, in Hickory County, Missouri, the daughter of Raymond and Ina (Wrinkle) Carbaugh. The family moved to Iowa when Jean was nine years old. They lived near Wales, Macedonia, and Elliott where Jean attended school. On April 12, 1947, Jean was united in marriage to Robert Ratcliff in Hiawatha, Kansas. They lived all of their married life in Red Oak, Iowa. Jean worked 36 years at Union Carbide/Eveready retiring in 1991. She was a member of the Red Oak Presbyterian Church, the Rebekah Lodge, and the Eagles Auxiliary. Jean enjoyed camping, playing cards, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband: Robert; brothers: Clarence, Loren, and Ronald Carbaugh; and sister: Fern Marquardt. Survivors include her son: Robert Ratcliff and wife Cathy of Clarkston, MI; Randy Ratcliff and wife Janice of Gold Canyon, AZ; and Larry Ratcliff and wife Sally of Red Oak, IA; grandchildren: Trent Ratcliff of Parker, CO; Beth Jameson and husband Brian of Austin, TX; Valerie Pint and husband Mike of Charlotte, NC; Brian Ratcliff and wife Amy of Centralia, CO; Ben Ratcliff and wife Tiffany of San Francisco, CA; Scott Ratcliff and wife Dana of Council Bluffs, IA; and Jeremy Ratcliff and wife Rachel of Urbandale, IA; 15 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel at 1995 G Ave. in Red Oak. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials suggested to the Red Oak Presbyterian Church or the Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Court of Honor.
