Birthplace: Sidney, IA Resided In: Omaha, NE formerly Red Oak and Emerson Thelma Genevieve Eastwood, age 96, of Omaha, Nebraska formerly of Red Oak and Emerson, Iowa, passed away Friday, February 15, 2019 at the Azria Health Montclair in Omaha. Thelma was born December 20, 1922 in Sidney, Iowa the daughter of Roy and Charlotte (Morse) Shoemaker. She attended school in Red Oak and graduated with the class of 1940. She worked at the Farm Bureau office, Thos. D. Murphy Co., Schoenberg's and the Emporium all in Red Oak. Thelma was united in marriage to Donald Eastwood on April 4, 1942 in Hiawatha, Kansas. In August of 1942, Don was called into service and Thelma traveled with him. They lived in Lincoln, NE; Seattle, WA; Pendleton, OR; Walla Walla, WA; and, finally, Rapid City, SD. Then Don was stationed in England as a mechanic on B 17's. Their son Randy, was born in 1944 and was 15 months old before he met his daddy. After Don's service, they came back to the Emerson area where they farmed. Over the years Thelma was a member of Climax United Methodist Church, Emerson Methodist Church, Champion Hill Presbyterian Church and most recently Red Oak Presbyterian Church. She was a member of WSCS, Sewing Club, Young Married Church Group, American Legion Auxiliary, and DAR. Thelma was very creative, loved to write poetry, enjoyed sewing, and baking. Preceding her in death were her parents; infant daughter: Donette Eastwood; son: Charles Brent Eastwood; husband: Donald Eastwood and sister: Myrna Carlson. Survivors include her children: Randall Eastwood and wife Donna of Omaha, NE; Sharron Rumery of Lincoln, NE; and Darla Hetzel and husband Tim of Malvern, IA; 6 grandchildren: Tricia Smith of Omaha; Trent Eastwood and wife Emily of Omaha; Kent Rumery and wife Brenda of Skiatook, OK; Greg Rumery and wife Crystal of Bowling Green, KY; Trevan Hetzel and wife Katelyn of Malvern, IA; and Tyler Hetzel and wife Carolyn of Malvern, IA; 10 great grandchildren: Davis Smith; Kelsey and Leah Eastwood; Taylor, Kara, Kailey, Brock, and Berkley Rumery; and Ryder and Reid Hetzel; sisters-in-law: Marilyn Waterman of Omaha and Kay Herzberg and husband Willard of Clarinda, IA; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Walnut Cemetery in rural Montgomery County. Visitation with the family will be held 5-7 PM Monday, February 18, 2019 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Walnut Cemetery Association. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
