Birthplace: Los Angeles, CA Resided In: Red Oak, IA Terry Linn Smith, age 63, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at his residence after an extended illness. Terry was born April 28, 1953 in Los Angeles, CA the son of Dain and Patricia (Nunn) Smith. Terry lived many different place while growing up. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He did tours in Hong Kong, Philippines, and Vietnam. Terry was united in marriage to Kathleen Corsey on April 20, 1971 and two children were born to this union: Michael and Daina. He married Lind Vent in August 1975 and two children were born to this union: Terry, Jr. and Kenny. He later married Linda Cochran in Red Oak then later Kathy Perdue Collins. Terry lived many different places where he was employed as an auto body technician. He moved back to Red Oak, in 1987. Terry enjoyed fishing and camping and was quite a craftsman doing leatherwork. This year on his birthday he was married to the love of his life Darlene Helm. Preceding him in death were his parents and brother: Michael Smith. Survivors include his wife: Darlene Helm-Smith of Red Oak, IA; children: Michael Smith of Utah, Daina Smith of Utah, Terry Smith, Jr. of Red Oak, IA and Kenny Smith of Texas; step-children: Carra McCart of Red Oak; Dennell Harris of Waxahachie, TX; JoAn DeWitt of Elliott, IA; Joseph Helm of Falls Church, VA; and Troy Helm of Carter Lake, IA; grandchildren: Grace, Alexis, Gavin, and Emma; step-grandchildren: Kyela, Anthony, Phoenix, Cydney, Collin, Tyler, Trent, Kylee, Parker, and Emma; step-great grandson: Landon; sister: Cindy Lorenz of Roseburg, OR; and many other relatives and friends. A celebration of life service will be held 2:30 PM Thursday, September 29, 2016 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the family. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
