Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Stanton, iowa Terry Lee Miller, age 79, of Stanton, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Terry was born July 14, 1942 in Red Oak, Iowa, the youngest son of Carl Eldor and Edna (Peterson) Miller. Terry grew up in Stanton. As a teenager he mowed over 30 lawns to help with the family finances. Terry graduated from Stanton High School in 1960. The same year, he began working at the Thomas D. Murphy Calendar Company in the composing room for six years before moving into the office as an accounting supervisor. He left the Murphy Co. in 1989 due to a merger. He then worked at Parker-Hannifin. Terry returned to JII in 1993 and continued working there until his retirement in 2001. He also worked as a part-time custodian for Stanton Elementary School form 1991 - 2008. Terry was united in marriage to Bonnie Cox on November 30, 1986. Through the years they enjoyed traveling, attending baseball games in Kansas City and Stanton athletic events. Terry was an avid bowler. He was on a men's league and won the singles Red Oak city tournament in 1971. He was a dedicated St. Louis Cardinals fan all of his life and looked forward to the onset of baseball season. Memorable fishing trips were made to Okoboji with his father and to Oklahoma with Shorty Wistrom. Terry lived in the family home for 54 years prior to moving next door and remained in Stanton his entire life. He enjoyed working in the yard and planting flowers every spring. He was a member of the Mamrelund Lutheran Church. Terry is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Wesley. Survivors include his wife: Bonnie of Stanton, Iowa; daughter: Jessica Diamond and husband Brian of Omaha, Nebraska; son: Steve and wife Vicky of Hastings, IA; granddaughters: Isabella and Madalann; brother-in-law: Don Cox and wife Rita of Omaha, Nebraska; other relatives and friends. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 PM Thursday, December 2, 2021 at the Mamrelund Lutheran Church in Stanton, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5 - 7 PM on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak, Iowa. Interment will take place in the Mamre Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
