Obituary

Birthplace: Ottawa County, Oklahoma Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Sylvia Grayson, age 86, of Red Oak, Iowa formerly of Emerson, Iowa passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak. Sylvia Ora Grayson was born November 11, 1917 in Wyandotte, Oklahoma the daughter of Will and Lola (Vineyart) Kellogg. She was raised in Missouri and graduated from the Seneca, Missouri High School. Sylvia lived in Missouri until 1963 when she moved to Emerson and worked for the Gordon Frink family taking care of the children. She was united in marriage to Edwin Grayson on March 2, 1965 in Emerson, Iowa. She was a homemaker and they farmed south of Emerson for many years. Sylvia and Edwin moved into Red Oak in 1984. In 2002 they moved to Arlington Place until moving to the Good Samaritan Care Center in June of 2003. Sylvia attended the Grace Baptist Church and was an avid gardener. Survivors include her husband: Edwin Grayson of Red Oak, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Saturday, January 10, 2004 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Pastor Gary Walters officiating. Burial will be in the Emerson, Iowa Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1-2 PM on Saturday, January 10, 2004 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Grace Baptist Church. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak is in charge of arrangements.
