Carol Sue "Susie" Kohl, age 81, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Friday, March 1, 2024, at Arlington Place. Susie was born June 11, 1942, in Syracuse, New York, the daughter of Thomas and Katharine (Wood) Davis. She was raised in Geneva, New York and Glendale, California. She graduated from Glendale High School in 1961. She was united in marriage to James Nail Sims and four children were born to this union: Sindy, Katharine, Robin, and Marshall. She was united in marriage to Philip Kohl on November 1, 2005, in Honolulu, HI. They made their home in Huntington Beach, California. Susie enjoyed traveling and horses. While in Red Oak, Susie was a seamstress, worked for Finest Cleaners, and helped Carrol Danbom with his art shows.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband: Philip Kohl; and sister: Sally Cannon. Survivors include her children: Sindy Rodenmayer and husband Jon of Garland, TX; Katharine Tinnerman and husband Ed of Allen, TX; Robin Jones and husband Jim of Red Oak, IA; and Marshall Sims and partner Travis Jackson of Seattle, WA; stepchildren: Chris Kohl and wife Kirsten of Huntington Beach, CA and Mike Kohl and wife Donna of Tahoe, CA; grandchildren: John Rodenmayer, Steven Rodenmayer, Jamie Lee Jones, Devin Powell, Stephanie Cummings and husband Chris, Austin Jones and wife Shaune, and Dustin Jones and wife Emma; step-grandchildren: Sarah, Jacob, Evan, and Oliver Kohl; great grandchildren: Benjamin and Beauden; and other relatives and many friends.
A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with cremation services.
