Steven Lee Johnson, age 72, of Versailles, Missouri, formerly of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at his home. Steve was born March 16, 1952, the son of Duane "Andy" and Ardis (Jungferman) Johnson. He graduated from Red Oak Community High School where he was the 1970 SW Iowa Athlete of The Year. Steve received a scholarship to play football at Kansas State University. He then returned home and farmed with his father for many decades, eventually retiring to Versailles, Missouri. He was a very active member of the Montgomery County Fair Board for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his siblings: Edward William Johnson of Show Low, AZ; Nancy Jo Zolck and husband Dennis of Arlington, NE; and Michael Duane Johnson of Fort Wayne, IN; and many other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life service will be announced for a later date.
