Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Bellevue, Nebraska Steven F. Abbey, age 61, of Bellevue, Nebraska, formerly Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the Bellevue Medical Center from stage-4 cancer. Steven Francis Abbey was born March 29, 1950 in Red Oak, Iowa the son of Clifford and Frances (Keith) Abbey. The family lived in Corning, Iowa until his father died and they moved to Red Oak in late 1952. Steven graduated from Red Oak High School in 1969 and attended Iowa Western Community College. He went to work for US Checkbook in Omaha, Nebraska and worked there until the business closed in the early 2000's. Steven was united in marriage to Eva Marie McKeeman on March 14, 1998. They resided in Omaha until 2009 when they moved to Bellevue. Preceding him in death were his parents: Clifford Abbey in 1952 and Frances Harold in 2003. Survivors include his wife: Eva Marie Abbey of Bellevue, NE; brother: Duane Abbey and wife Mary of Cedar Rapids, IA; sister: Tammie Stoneking and husband Roger of Grant, IA; nephew: Evan Abbey and wife Kristen and their children: Hailey, Zachariah, and Hannah all of Urbandale, IA; niece: Kerin Abbey and fiancé Dan Miller of O Fallon, MO; brothers-in-law: Dr. Robert McKeeman and wife Sherry of Friend, NE and Bill McKeeman and wife Lynn of Omaha, NE; aunt: Joan (Abbey) and husband Bill Crowell of Urbandale, IA; and many other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held 1 PM Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jason Kennedy officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will be in the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Corning, Iowa. Memorials are suggested to the family. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel, Red Oak, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
