Stephen Michael Kling, age 74, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Monday, November 4, 2024, at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Steve was born November 5, 1949, in Shenandoah, Iowa, the son of Elder and Florence (Franzen) Kling. He was raised in Stanton and Red Oak graduating from Red Oak High School in 1968. After high school, Steve started working for the Iowa Department of Transportation, retiring after 38 plus years. He was united in marriage to Ginger Grasty in 1980 in Red Oak, Iowa. He was a longtime member of the Red Oak Eagles Lodge and enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and gun collecting.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife: Ginger Kling; brother: Kevin Kling; nephew: Cade Ryan Kling; stepdaughter: Rene Lyden; and step-grandson: Mike Cave. Survivors include his sister: Karen Kling-Osler of Malvern, IA; step-children: Vickie Kammerer and husband Randy of Council Bluffs, IA; and Julie Goettsche and Robby Lukehart of Red Oak, IA; grandchildren: Emily Dillon and husband Cory of Arlington, NE; Jordan Goettsche and wife Lauren of San Diego, CA; and Katie Schrobilgen and husband Jon of Cedar Rapids, IA; great grandchildren: Brinley and Ada Dillon and Navy Rae Schrobilgen; nephews and nieces: Stephen Osler and wife Amber of Glenwood, IA; Seth Osler of Glenwood, IA; Amber Osler of Malvern, IA; Andy Kling and wife Tabatha of Red Oak, IA; Roxi Kling of Missouri; Meri Kling of Red Oak, IA; and Kelsi Kling of Council Bluffs, IA; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, November 14, 2024, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the funeral at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the family.
