Stanley Maynes Halvin, age 65, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at his home in Tucson, AZ. The second son of Wayne and Effa Halvin, Stanley was born August 18, 1944 in Red Oak, Iowa. He grew up on a farm north of Red Oak, and graduated from Red Oak High School in 1962. Stanley served two years in the National Guard. He also worked at Gray's Body Shop in Red Oak learning the art of auto-body repair. Using this knowledge he later served as a civilian in Viet Nam servicing military vehicles. He settled in the Los Angeles area where he continued his interest in cars and applied his abilities operating his own auto center where he specialized in front-end alignments. Stanley created a new "Method For Wheel Alignment" and was granted U.S. Patent # 4,541,162 on Sept. 17, 1985. Stanley also designed and manufactured many high-quality automotive replacement parts machined out of aircraft aluminum. He successfully sold his line of parts to other alignment and auto shops under the business name Improved Products. He moved to Tucson in the 1990's and was currently making plans to return to his family home in Red Oak when he passed away suddenly. Above all else, Stanley made friends easily and maintained those close friendships throughout his entire life. He will be sadly missed, but not forgotten.
Preceding Stanley in death were his father Wayne and nephew Mark. Surviving family include his mother Effa; brother Gary and Debbie; nephew Jeff; niece Julie and Kevin Brase; grand-nephew Andrew Brase; grand-nieces Lauren, and Sarah Brase; aunt Dorothy Doss; cousins Bud and Joyce Halvin, Connie and Wayne Bailey, Mary Jo Maynes, Diane and Doug Ames, Steven Maynes, Jon and Kim Breese, Carol Herold and family, Fred and Laura Breese, Larry and Janine Maynes, Keith and Bridget Maynes, and Byron and Susan Mass; and many other relatives and friends.
