Shawn Darran Dunkeson, age 55, of Elliott, Iowa, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2022, at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Shawn was born June 12, 1967, in Clarinda, Iowa, the son of Billie Gene and Lloyt (Lamb) Dunkeson. He was raised in Elliott, Iowa and graduated from Griswold Community High School in 1986. He worked most of his life for Charlie Smith on the farm and also loved to scrap iron. Shawn's hobbies included playing pool, hunting, trapping, hand fishing, and collecting guns. Shawn was united in marriage to Sandy Binns on December 21, 1996, in Elliott, Iowa.

Preceding him in death were his mother; sister: Sherry Kinser; and nephew: Dillan Kinser. Survivors include his wife: Sandy Dunkeson of Elliott, IA; children: Shane Dunkeson and Trinity Erickson of Elliott, IA; Michelle Kasha and Roger Gibson of Macedonia, IA; and David Eddins and wife Trisha of Pennsylvania; grandchildren: Roger Gibson, Emmett Gibson, Gahrutt Gibson, Zoey Dunkeson, Dalton Dunkeson, and Emmy Eddins; father: Billie Gene Dunkeson and wife Kaleta of Mt. Ayr, IA; brothers: Terry Dunkeson and wife Vicki of West Point, NE; Kelly Dunkeson and wife Donna of Hoquiam, WA; and Kevin Dunkeson and Ed of Otis, OR; sister: Nicole Gary and husband Mark of Atlantic, IA; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life and memorial visitation will be held from 12 PM – 4 PM Saturday, October 22, 2022, at the Elliott, Iowa Community Building.
