Birthplace: Sioux Falls, South Dakota Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Sharon McCoy, age 52, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Saturday, September 22, 2001 at her residence after an extended illness. Sharon Kay McCoy was born May 5, 1949 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota the daughter of Floyd and Corrine (Cobb) Malzer. She graduated from the Cherokee, Iowa High School in 1967 and was united in marriage to Michael "Mick" McCoy on November 30, 1968. They moved to Red Oak in 1971. Sharon had worked for the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital for the past 27 ½ years in the Dietary Department. She was a member of the Red Oak Eagles Lodge. Sharon is survived by her husband: Michael "Mick" McCoy of Red Oak, Iowa; 2 daughters: Melinda Lucky and her husband John of Red Oak, Iowa; and Michele Johnson and her husband Shane of South Sioux City, Nebraska; Mother: Corrine Malzer of Cherokee, Iowa; 2 sisters: Diane Moore and her husband David of Larrabee, Iowa; and Vicky Peterson and her husband C.A. of Cherokee, Iowa; 5 grandchildren: Josh and Brandie Lucky; and Zach, Ben, and Shanelle Johnson; Father and Mother-in-law: Paul and Lois McCoy of Red Oak, Iowa; 2 brothers-in-law: Robert McCoy and his wife Judi of Scottsdale, Arizona; and Max McCoy and his wife Loretta of Meeker, Colorado; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Tuesday, September 25, 2001 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Craig Larsen officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7-8 PM Monday, September 24, 2001 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. A memorial fund is being established. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
