Birthplace: Nebraska City, NE Resided In: Red Oak, IA Sharon Kay Lemons, age 77, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2015 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Sharon was born July 2, 1938 in Nebraska City, Nebraska the daughter of Bernard and Mamie (Dukes) Ohnmacht. She graduated from Liberty, Missouri High School in 1958 and lived in the Liberty area for many years. She was united in marriage to Billie D. Carnes and 6 children were born to this union. Sharon owned and operated many restaurants over the years and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where she was a chef at the Mirage Hotel for 10 years. Sharon made Red Oak her home when she retired in 2005. Cooking was her passion and she enjoyed making bread pudding and apple crisp for the Rainbow Cafe. Preceding her in death were her parents; companion: Billie Carnes; daughter: Dana LeeAnn Carnes; sister: Judy Ohnmacht; and brothers: William, Don, and Richard Ohnmacht. Survivors include her children: Marcus Carnes and Andrea Borden of Las Vegas, NV; Bridget Cooper and husband Michael Luna of Red Oak, IA; Patrick Carnes and wife Jackie of Griswold, IA; Joseph Carnes and significant other Michael Josephson of Red Oak, IA; and Amber Lindsay and husband John of Red Oak, IA; 19 grandchildren including Danielle Carnes, whom she raised and her significant other Kevin Rohleder of Griswold, IA; 15 great grandchildren; sisters: Dixie Wilkerson of Red Oak, IA and Peggy Holloway of Las Vegas, NV; and many other relatives and friends. There will be a private family service for Sharon. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral is assisting the family with cremation services.
