Birthplace: Maryville, MO Resided In: Red Oak, IA Sharon L. Johnston, age 68, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Friday, November 25, 2011 at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Sharon Lea Johnston was born February 17, 1943 in Maryville, Missouri the daughter of John Charles and Jean Margaret (Ackley) Gray. She lived in Glenwood, Iowa until moving to Red Oak, Iowa many years ago. Sharon retired from Good Samaritan Care Center after 25 years of service. The past five years Sharon had been a resident of Acorn Acres where she enjoyed spending time with her friends. Sharon enjoyed reading and time spent with her family, especially the grandchildren whom she helped raise. Preceding her in death were her parents and a brother: Terry Gray. Survivors include her children: Becky Gulick; Darcie Tilton; and Brenda Gass and husband Scott all of Red Oak, IA; step-daughter: Theresa Garcia and husband Terry of Truth or Consequences, NM; grandchildren: Brianna Schroeder and husband Ken of Sulfur Springs, TX; Sarah Hill and husband Jake of Emerson, IA; Travis Tilton of Atlantic, IA; and Kyla, Kadee, and James Gass all of Red Oak, IA; great grandchildren: Jaidyn, Gavin, Gabe, Nolan, Madilyn, and Brycen; brothers: Mike Gray of Council Bluffs, IA; Bill Gray and wife Sherry of Monroe, NE; and Steve Gray of Gothenburg, NE; and many other relatives and friends. A memorial visitation with the family present will be held from 7-8 PM Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
