Birthplace: Hamburg, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Sharon L. Gustafson, 78, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away peacefully on July 27, 2021. Sharon was born on January 23, 1943 to James "Brice" and Alma "Maxine" Miller in Hamburg, Iowa. Sharon graduated from Hamburg High School. Sharon had twin daughters Barb and Bev whom she raised in Malvern, Iowa. Sharon met Jon, or as she referred to him as Gus. They spent 23 wonderful years together, traveling and making friends where ever they went. Sharon loved to read, water aerobics, swimming, line dancing, bike rides, canning, and spending time in her garden. She loved to spend time with her family and friends and traveling but was always happy to be back home. Sharon enjoyed her winters in Alamo, Texas and Progresso, Mexico where she never knew a stranger. Sharon's surviving family includes her loving husband, Jon; daughters Barb and husband Calvin Cheney of Malvern, IA; Bev and husband Jim Hambright of Red Oak, IA; grandchildren: Paul (Daize) Pontow of Emerson, IA; Daniel (Courtney) Pontow of Malvern, IA; Victoria Pontow (Brad Klindt) of Malvern, IA; Wyatt Cheney of Malvern, IA; and Dylan Hambright of Red Oak, IA; great-grandchildren: Cohen, Camryn, Teagan, Rudy, Hayden, Landon, Arleigh, and Bennett; sister: Pat (Ed) Larson; special nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Brice and Maxine; grandson: Chad Hambright; and brothers: Larry Miller and Lonnie (Marilyn) Miller. A private family graveside celebration of life service will be held Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will greet friends starting at 11 AM at Chautauqua Park Pavillion for a time of lunch and fellowship. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
