Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Samuel L. "Sam" McKee age 61 of Red Oak, Iowa passed away April 29, 2003 at his home in Red Oak. Sam McKee was born February 3, 1942 in Red Oak, Iowa the son of LeRoy "Pat" and Audrey (Shook) McKee. He was raised in Red Oak and graduated from Red Oak High School in 1960. Sam served in the U.S. Navy from 1960-1964. He was united in marriage to Nancy Waddell on August 22, 1962 and later married Avis Arndt. Sam lived in San Diego, California before moving back to Iowa. He lived in Charles City, Corning, Stanton and Akron, Iowa while he worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation. He retired in 1997 after 33 years of service and moved back to Red Oak. Sam was preceded in death by his father: Pat McKee and an infant son: Robert Brian McKee. Survivors include his mother: Audrey McKee Vance and her husband Claire of Oakland, Iowa; children: Terry McKee and Kim of Omaha, Nebraska; Jeff McKee of Red Oak, Iowa; Sherry Raines and John of Sioux Center, Iowa; grandchildren: Alexis and Alana McKee, Dustin Boyer and Lela Raines; sisters: Peggy Carmichael and John of Red Oak, Iowa and Sandra Guinn of Red Oak, Iowa; niece: Audra-Ann Guinn of Chicago, Illinois and nephew: Dino Hayz of Moline, Illinois; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Friday, May 2, 2003 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak with Rev. Kenneth Minark officiating. Burial will be in the Emerson, Iowa Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 7-8 PM Thursday, May 1, 2003 at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak is in charge of arrangements.
