Birthplace: White Lake, South Dakota Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Ruth Ellen Triplett, age 83, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Saturday, December 20, 2008 at the Creighton Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Ruth Ellen Triplett was born March 10, 1925 in White Lake, South Dakota the daughter of Henry and Ila (Hall) Schilling. She moved to Southwest Iowa as a young girl and graduated from the Wales Lincoln High School where she was active in band and was a star basketball player. She attended Peru State College and graduated with a teaching certificate. She began her teaching career in Silver City, Iowa. She taught there for a short time before her marriage to Norris Triplett on March 2, 1945 in Montgomery County, Iowa. To this union were born three daughters: Cheryl, Vickie, and Kris. Ruth Ellen took time away from teaching to raise her family. When the kids were in school Ruth Ellen began teaching again at the Red Oak Junior High School and later taught fourth grade primarily at the Bancroft School until her retirement in 1987. During this time she received her degree in education from Northwest Missouri State University. She enjoyed playing cards and games, camping, wintering in Arizona, and was a good friend to all, never knowing a stranger. Ruth Ellen was also a long time member of the First United Methodist Church, volunteer for the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and Past Noble Grand of Rebekah Lodge #174. Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband: Norris on December 24, 2002. Survivors include her daughters: Cheryl Voelliger and husband Warren of Ottumwa, Iowa; Vickie Steve and husband Ron of North Augusta, South Carolina; and Kris Pierson and husband John of Reno, Nevada; 8 grandchildren: Erin Voelliger of Marathon, Florida; Amy Deppe and husband Matthew of Elmwood, Illinois; Mark Voelliger of Ottumwa, Iowa; Veronica Satterfield and husband William of Charlotte, North Carolina; Rodney Steve and wife Becky of Charlotte, North Carolina; Andrea Pierson of Denver, Colorado; and Ryan Pierson and Alex Pierson both of Reno, Nevada; great grandchildren: Zoe Voelliger of Marathon, Florida; William Satterfield and Jackson Satterfield of Charlotte, North Carolina; and Jonah Deppe, Anna Deppe, and Trevor Deppe, all of Elmwood, Illinois; brother-in-law: George Triplett and wife Julie of Ballwin, Missouri; sisters-in-law: Marilyn Viner of Red Oak, Iowa and Doris Reid of Roggen, Colorado; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, December 27, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Fred Pilecki officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. There will be open visitation on Friday, December 26, 2008 at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with the family being present from 6-8 PM. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church or the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
