Birthplace: Osmond, Nebraska Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Ruth L. Rold, age 87, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Saturday, June 26, 2004 at the Good Samaritan Care Center. Ruth Luella Rold was born January 30, 1917 in Osmond, Nebraska. She attended school in Elliott, Iowa where she graduated in 1934. Ruth attended Thompson's School of Beauty in Des Moines, Iowa graduating in 1936. She then opened a beauty shop in Carson and later Griswold, Iowa. Ruth moved to California where she was united in marriage to Joe Rold on September 1, 1943. They lived in California, Wyoming, and Texas before Ruth moved back to Elliott, Iowa when Joe was overseas with the military. After Joe returned from the war, they purchased a farm near Wales, Iowa. Ruth and Joe farmed until 1972 when they moved into the town of Wales. In 1978, Joe and Ruth traveled to Arizona on a trip and decided to move there. They lived in Sun Lakes, Chandler, and Pine Top. They moved back to Red Oak in 1986. Joe preceded Ruth in death on March 7, 1988. Ruth was a member of the Wales Presbyterian Church where she participated in Ladies Aid. She was a member of the J.U.G. Club, the Elliott Order of Eastern Star; and P.E.O. of Griswold, Iowa. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Joe Rold; brother: Joe Shaw; and sister: Grace Dasher. Survivors include 2 daughters: Jo Alice Meggison and husband Jerry of Red Oak, Iowa; and Mary Rold of Red Oak, Iowa; son: Dan Rold and wife Chris of Cowgill, Missouri; 11 grandchildren: Julie Masters and husband Steve of Red Oak, Iowa; Jennifer Smith and husband Ryan of Stanton, Iowa; Robin Sams and husband Steve of Independence, Missouri; Sam Rold and wife Lisa of Cowgill, Missouri; Bill Rold of Buckner, Missouri; Joe Rold and wife Tiffany of Cowgill, Missouri; Rachael Rold of Independence, Missouri; Russell, Mark, Molly, and Danny Rold all of Cowgill, Missouri; 13 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held 2 PM Monday, June 28, 2004 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial of the cremated remains will be in the Gomer Cemetery at Wales, Iowa. There will be open visitation from 1-5 PM Sunday, at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Red Oak Public Library, Good Samaritan Care Center, or the Red Oak Senior Center. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
