Birthplace: Rural Stanton, Iowa Resided In: Rural Red Oak, Iowa Ruth Engaborg Miller, age 77, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society. Ruth was born May 8, 1939 north of Stanton, Iowa the daughter of Malker and Greta (Dahlgren) Alm. She was raised in the southwest Iowa area graduating from the Griswold, Iowa High School in 1957. Ruth was united in marriage to Warren Miller on October 17, 1959 in Griswold, Iowa. They made their home on the same farm they had lived on all of their married life. Ruth was a hard worker and was dedicated to farming alongside of her husband for all those years. She loved taking care of her family and her flowers. She was a member of the "Lunch Bunch" and the Summit Hill Club. She loved her dog, Barney and Steve's dog, Duke and was an avid online shopper. Ruth was a member of the Stratton United Methodist Church and was a former Red Oak School Board member. Preceding her in death were her parents and a brother, Clifford Alm. Survivors include her husband: Warren Miller of Red Oak; children: Tina Miller and Steve Miller of Red Oak; brother: Gus Alm of Nyman, IA; sister: Joanna Brokaw of Corning, IA; sister-in-law: Myrna Headley of Council Bluffs, IA; nephews and nieces: Kevin Alm of Nyman; Craig Alm of Red Oak; Joyce Nichols of Boston, MA; Dee Soda and husband Pete of Omaha, NE; Linda Shuler and husband Bill of Corning, IA; and Mitch Jensen and wife Ruth of Minneapolis, MN; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, May 5, 2017 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7 PM Thursday, May 4, 2017 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Red Oak Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
