Birthplace: Chicago, IL Resided In: Stanton, Iowa Ruth Lynam, age 61, of Stanton, Iowa passed away Thursday, January 29, 2004 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak after a sudden illness. Ruth A. Lynam was born April 22, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of Hans and Sonja (Viklund) Nicolaisen. The family moved to Denver when Ruth was 12. She attended and graduated from the Wheatridge High School in 1960. She furthered her education in Chicago, Illinois at the Swedish Covenant School of Nursing receiving her RN Degree in 1963. Ruth worked in Chicago for 3 years moving back to Denver in 1966. She worked for the Ft. Logan Mental Health. She was united in marriage to Ron Lynam on April 6, 1968 in Arvada, Colorado. They moved to Southwest Iowa in 1970 and to Stanton in 1971. Ruth worked for the Murphy Memorial Hospital in Red Oak as well as the Good Samaritan Care Center before having children. Ruth was fortunate to enjoy staying home with the children until they were of school age. She then started back to work in the kitchen at the Stanton High School. She was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Stanton. Ruth was preceded in death by her daughter: Jennifer Lynn Lynam; and her parents. Survivors include her husband: Ron Lynam of Stanton, Iowa; children: Andrew Lynam and his wife Tina of Red Oak, Iowa; Lorrie Yoakum and her husband Kevin of Phoenix, Arizona; and Christine Lynam of Chicago, Illinois; 3 grandchildren; Nicholas Hans Lynam, Aidan Richard Yoakum, and Erick Ronald Yoakum; a sister: Marianne Mellin and her husband Ray of Westminster, Colorado; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Monday, February 2, 2004 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Stanton, Iowa with Pastor Kevin Yoakum and Pastor Paul Warder officiating. Burial will be in the Arlington Cemetery in rural Montgomery County, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held from 1-4 PM Sunday, February 1, 2004 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak. Memorials are suggested to the Twin Lakes Bible Camp. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak is in charge of arrangements.
