Birthplace: Alden, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Ruth M. Logan, age 83, of Red Oak, Iowa died Saturday, March 4, 2006 at the Good Samaritan Care Center after an extended illness. Ruth Mabel Logan was born March 27, 1922 in Alden, Iowa the daughter of William H. and Mabel E. (McGee) Miller. The family moved to Red Oak, Iowa where Ruth graduated high school in 1939. She worked for the County Auditor's Office until the time of her marriage to James Logan on March 27, 1942 in Red Oak, Iowa. While Jim was in the military, Ruth followed him throughout the United States working for various federal agencies doing clerical work. After settling back in Red Oak, Ruth did not work outside the home until her son went to college at which time she was in charge of the Hot Lunch Program for the Red Oak Schools. She was a member of the First Congregational Church where she was active in the Women's Fellowship and was a Sunday School teacher. Throughout the years, Ruth volunteered in many organizations including Cub Scouts as a leader and the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Ruth was a long time member of the Red Oak Country Club where she was an avid golfer. She enjoyed playing Bridge, painting pictures, handwork projects, gardening, as well as spending the winters in Texas for many years. Preceding her in death were her parents; and two sisters: Carmen Swindle and Helen Considine. Survivors include her husband James Logan of Red Oak, Iowa; son: Michael Logan of Omaha, Nebraska; two grandsons: Todd Logan and Ryan Logan both of Omaha, Nebraska; several nieces and nephews as well as many other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held 2 PM Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Elizabeth Dilley officiating. Private burial of ashes will take place at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Heartland Hospice, First Congregational Church, or the Red Oak Public Library. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
