Ruth Ellen Dunbar, age 88, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Friday, March 3, 2023, at the Garden View Care Center in Shenandoah, Iowa. Ruth was born August 22, 1934, in Cherokee, Iowa, the daughter of Almo and Lena Brownmiller. She was raised in Marcus, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Orville Miller and 7 children were born to this union: Dean, Dale, Kathy, Dennis, Karen, Kim and Kris. Ruth lived in Storm Lake, Iowa, before moving to Hastings, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Orville Dunbar on January 13, 1986 in Emerson, Iowa. They made their home at Hastings, Iowa. They eventually moved into Red Oak. Over the years, Ruth worked in many restaurants as a cook.

Preceding her in death were her parents; son: Dean; husband: Orville Dunbar; and brother: Bud Brownmiller. Survivors include her children: Dale, Kathy, Dennis, Karen, Kim, and Kris; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and sister: Verna Mae.

Graveside funeral services will be held 10 AM Thursday, March 9, 2023, at the North Grove Cemetery in Mills County, Iowa.
