Birthplace: Carson, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, IA Ruth Bennett, age 82, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2002 at the Good Samaritan Care Center after an extended illness. Ruth Lusettie Bennett was born August 15, 1919 in Carson, Iowa the daughter of Robert and Edith (Griffen) Malcom. She has lived all of her life in the Montgomery County area. Ruth was united in marriage to Clarence Bennett on June 24, 1944 in Tarkio, Missouri. She and Clarence farmed until moving into Red Oak in 1950. Ruth started worked for the Thomas D. Murphy Co. which she did for 24 years. She then went to work for the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital for 10 years. Ruth has been a resident of Good Samaritan Care Center since 1989. She was also a member of the First Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; 4 brothers and sisters; and her husband: Clarence on January 26, 1992. Survivors include her 2 daughters: Mary Alice Bellew and her husband Jack of Parker, Colorado; and Evelyn Potter of Sedalia, Missouri; 3 grandsons: Robert Bellew of Ft. Worth, Texas; Chris Baumbach of Bedford, Texas; and Steve Baumbach and his wife Cynthia of Euless, Texas; and great grandson: Nichlous Baumbach of Euless, Texas; brother: Carl Malcom and his wife June of Malvern, Iowa; sister: Bernice Bennett of Sedalia, Missouri; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, January 12, 2001 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with the Rev. JoAnn Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7-8 PM Friday, January 11, 2002 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Red Oak Good Samaritan Center. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
