Birthplace: Emerson, Iowa Resided In: Loveland, Colorado Ruby Shelley, age 92, of Loveland, Colorado passed away Sunday, October 14, 2001 in Sheridan Wyoming. Ruby G. Shelley was born December 5, 1908 in Emerson, Iowa the daughter of Walter and Bertha (Navert) Kellenbarger. She graduated from the Red Oak High School in 1926 and attended Cedar Falls Teachers College receiving her teaching certificate in 1927. On February 21, 1935 Ruby was united in marriage to A. Dale Shelley in Rockport, Missouri. They farmed near Emerson and operated Emerson Aerial Spray for 22 years. Dale preceded her in death in 1974. Ruby moved to Loveland, Colorado in 1975 where she was a member of the Mountain View Presbyterian Church and was a volunteer at the McKee Medical Center for 20 years. Ruby loved doing crafts and traveling. She was a licensed pilot and a former Iowa Flying Farmer Queen. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 2 sisters; a daughter: Darlene Straight; and a great grandson: Zach Shelley. Survivors include 3 sons: Robert Shelley and his wife Donna of Sheridan, Wyoming; Gary Shelley and his wife Fran of Ft. Collins, Colorado; and James Shelley and his wife Jean of Buffalo, Wyoming; 10 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Graveside funeral services will be held 10 AM Monday, October 22, 2001 at the Walnut Cemetery in rural Montgomery County, Iowa. Family and friends will meet at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel at 9:30 AM to go to the cemetery in procession. There will be visitation from 6-8 PM Sunday, October 21, 2001 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
