Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Roy C. Hagglund, age 97, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at the Villisca Good Samaritan Center after an extended illness. Roy Clarence Hagglund was born February 17, 1909 in Red Oak, Iowa the son of Simon and Edna (Hall) Hagglund. He was raised in the southwest Iowa area attending school in Glenwood, Shenandoah, and Red Oak. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1928 until 1939. He spent 7 years during this time in China. Also during this time he was united in marriage to Lorene Copeland on March 9, 1937 in Maryville, Missouri. Upon his return from China, Roy was the Railway Express Agent in Red Oak for 15 years. After retiring from the Railway he was a fur buyer for many years. Lorene preceded him in death on September 11, 1997. Survivors include his brothers-in-law: Charles Copeland of Waukee, Iowa; and Marion Copeland of Santa Barbara, California; sister-in-law: Carmon Messner of Ivins, Utah; and many nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, January 26, 2007 at the Evergreen Cemetery with Military Rites. Family and friends will gather at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel at 10:30 AM for a short prayer service and to go in procession to the cemetery. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
