Birthplace: Pettis County, MO Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Roy N. Fisher, age 94, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Saturday, September 6, 2008 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Roy Newton Fisher was born November 5, 1913 in Pettis County, Missouri the son of Newton and Etta Mae (Marshall) Fisher. He attended country school through the seventh grade when he quit to help support the family of ten children. Roy was united in marriage to Ayliffe (Miller) Young on February 3, 1936 in Pettis County, Missouri. They had three daughters and farmed all of their married life. In the early 1940's the family moved to Iowa and farmed near Stennett. In 1949, they moved to the Essex area and in 1957 bought their farm Northeast of Red Oak. In 1973, Roy was presented an Achievement Award in his district from the Iowa Soil Conservation Commission. Roy's passion was to be a good steward of the land he cared for. Roy was a wonderful welder and was a good family man. He was also a longtime member of the Community of Christ Church in Shenandoah, Iowa. Roy was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; five sisters; son-in-law: Gene Maher; and two great granddaughters: Ashley and Brooke Maley. Survivors include his wife: Ayliffe Fisher of Red Oak; daughters: Donna Ross and husband Myron of Essex, IA; Mary Maher of Red Oak; and Ruth Miller and husband Wayne of Boggstown, IN; grandchildren: Cathy Shane and husband Jesse, Jolene Younggren and husband Brent, and Tom Ross and wife Lisa all of Essex; Doug Maher and wife Deb of Stanton, IA; Linda Pieken and husband Tim of Avoca, IA; Alicia Dominguez and husband Norman of Tempe, AZ; Julie Kennon and husband Mike of Atlantic, IA; Jeanne Artzer and husband Eric of Meridian, ID; Sherry Kennon and Scott Lukehart and wife Glenna all of Atlantic; Mike Lukehart and wife Lori and Dan Lukehart and wife Rachel all of Red Oak; 30 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; sister: Essie Rearick of La Monte, MO; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Stanton Fire and Rescue or the Community of Christ Church. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
