Birthplace: Carson, Iowa Resided In: Torrance, California Rosa B. Dahlin, age 79, of Torrance, California formerly of Elliott, Iowa, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2011 at her home in Torrance. Rosa Belle "Rosie" Dahlin was born March 8, 1931 in Carson, Iowa the daughter of Ira and Leona (Cain) Perdue. From the age of 5 weeks old, she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Opal and Chris Kemling, whom she called "Mom and Dad". She graduated from Elliott High School and was united in marriage to Venoy L. "Shorty" Dahlin on June 26, 1949 in Montgomery County, Iowa. They moved to Torrance, California in 1957. Rosie worked as an office manager in a property management company. She enjoyed camping, crocheting, needle point, and quilting. Rosie was a member of the Quilting Guild for many years. She also was a volunteer poll worker for all the elections over many years. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband: Venoy "Shorty" Dahlin on June 22, 2003; infant daughters: Janelle and Cynthia; grandson: Duane Ferrell; sister: Dorene Billings; and brothers: Stanley and Evan Perdue. Survivors include her daughters: Melody Bivens and husband Bert of Caliente, CA and Pamela Feldbusch of Torrance, CA; grandchildren: Janell Nickelson and husband Brian of Tustin, CA; Leann Davison and husband Brian of Torrance, CA; Branden McCullar and wife Susie of Bakersfield, CA; and Casey McCullar and wife Shannon of 29 Palms, CA; great grandchildren: Logan Davison, John McCullar, Dorian McCullar, and Duane McCullar; brother: Irvin Perdue and wife Helen of Carson, IA; sisters: Wilma Anders of Brea, CA; Mary Eastman of Omaha, NE; and Lucy Yeager and husband Wilbur of Red Oak, IA; and sister-in-law: Audrey Perdue of Red Oak, IA; half sisters: Kathy Perdue of Elliott, IA and Linda Wilkinson and husband Ron of Red Oak, IA; step-sister: Ruth Sperber of Red Oak, IA; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Pastor Terry McClain officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery at Elliott, Iowa. There will be visitation with the family one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
