Ronald Lee Rasmussen, age 76, of Elliott, Iowa, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2025, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Ron was born October 31, 1949, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the son of Henry and Pauline (Karwal) Rasmussen. He was raised in Montgomery County and graduated from Griswold Community High School in 1967 and attended Iowa Western Community College studying Diesel and Gasoline Technology. Ron served in the United States Navy and lived in many places including San Diego, California, and the Philippines. He was united in marriage to Linda Vargas on May 10, 1971, in Cavite City, Philippines. They moved to Red Oak, Iowa in 1977 and currently make their home near Elliott, Iowa. He worked at Uniroyal and Parker Hannifin for many years. He retired from the Navy Reserves in 1995 at the rank of Chief Engineman. Ron was a true outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed fixing things and going to the casino.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and brothers: Dennis and Merlin. Survivors include his wife: Linda Rasmussen of Elliott, IA; children: Rose Lamberth and husband Karl of Leesville, LA and Roderick Rasmussen and wife Misty of Austin, TX; grandchildren: Kyle Lamberth and wife Stacia of Los Angeles, CA; Rachel Pago and husband Justin of Louisville, KY; Ashley Lamberth and Jared of Leesville, LA; and Talon Rasmussen of College Station, TX; several great grandchildren; sisters: Diane Adams of Shenandoah, IA and Denise Wilson and husband Mark of Elliott, IA; sisters-in-law: Linda Rasmussen of Red Oak, IA and Vivian Rasmussen of Red Oak, IA; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, January 5, 2026, at the LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Pilot Grove Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 2-4 PM Sunday, January 4, 2026, at the LeRette Funeral Chapel.
