Birthplace: Adams County, IA Resided In: Red Oak, IA Ronald Dean Govig, age 77, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2015, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Ron was born December 8, 1937 in Adams County, Iowa the son of Chester and Gladys (Newberg) Govig. He attended country school and started farming at a young age. Ron was united in marriage to Stella Sexton on May 1, 1959 in Clarinda, Iowa. They lived all of their married life in the Red Oak, Iowa area. Over the years Ron farmed, worked at Red Oak Machine, the Farmers Mercantile, and had his own small engine and lawn mower repair shop. Ron served in the Iowa Army National Guard in his younger days. Preceding him in death were his parents; son: Robbie Govig; wife: Stella Govig; brother: Ed Govig; and sister: Joyce Govig. Survivors include his son: John Govig and wife Christi of Red Oak, IA; grandchildren: Brianna Schroeder and husband Ken of Sulfur Springs, TX; John Govig and wife Betsy of Council Bluffs, IA; Jacob Govig and wife Erika of Atlantic, IA; and Jillion Govig of Red Oak, IA; great grandchildren: Jaidyn, Gavin, Gabe, and Nolan Govig; and Jace and Jaxon Govig; brother: Merlin Govig and wife Kay of Grimes, IA; sister: Myrna Lombard of Red Oak, IA; sister-in-law: Beverly Semmons of Stanton, IA; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Graveside memorial services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, September 5, 2015 at the Evergreen Cemetery with Pastor Ricky Rohrig officiating. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
