Birthplace: Shenandoah, Iowa Resided In: Elliott, Iowa Ronald Blackman, age 55, of Elliott, Iowa passed away Friday, July 15, 2005 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Ronald Dean Blackman was born December 30, 1949 in Shenandoah, Iowa the son of Clifford Eugene and Lillie Elna (Sickman) Blackman. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Pauls Lutheran Church near Northboro, Iowa and was raised in Northboro, Iowa. He graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1968. Ron entered the United States Air Force during Vietnam and was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada and served in Thailand for a short time. Ron moved to Elliott, Iowa in 1978. He was united in marriage to Sandra Artlip on May 10, 1980 in Elliott, Iowa. Ron worked for Turner Trucking and Harvestore in Elliott before starting to work at Douglas and Lomason Company in 1983. He was still working at the same company, now called ROMECH, as a manufacturing engineering technician. Ron enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a former member of the Elliott First Responders. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; a brother: Larry Blackman; step-brother: Kent Kite; and father-in-law: Dean Artlip. Survivors include his wife Sandra Blackman of Elliott, Iowa; children: Daron Blackman and wife Autumn of Elliott, Iowa; Jennifer Blackman of Creston, Iowa; Tracey Blackman and friend Joe Rhoades of Las Vegas, Nevada; Leonard Blackman of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Ronda Domeraski of Las Vegas, Nevada; 4 grandchildren: Colhin and Trinity Domeraski and Dakotah and Naomi Rose Rhoades all of Las Vegas, Nevada; 3 brothers: Dennis "Pete" Blackman of West Plaines, Missouri; Richard Blackman and wife Karen of Shenandoah, Iowa; and Tom Blackman of Shenandoah, Iowa; step-mother: Hallie Blackman of Shenandoah, Iowa; step-sister: Jocelyn Hopkins and husband Max of Omaha, Nebraska; mother-in-law: Nettie Artlip of Elliott, Iowa; 2 sisters-in-law: Pam Blackman of Westboro, Missouri; and Cathy Adams and husband Jerry of Emerson, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, July 21, 2005 at the Elliott Church of Christ with Rev. Michael Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8:30 PM Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak, Iowa. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
