Ronald Ray Baumbach, age 71, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Monday, June 9, 2025, at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Ron was born December 3, 1953, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the son of Harold and Katherine Baumbach. Ron grew up in the Carson area until the family moved to Stanton where he attended Stanton Community School until his senior year when the family moved to Red Oak. He graduated from Red Oak Community High School. Ron then served in the Iowa Army National Guard at the Red Oak Armory. He lived several years in Marshalltown, Iowa, where he worked before moving back to Red Oak, where he met the love of his life, Lynn Hammer. They were united in marriage in 2009. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, farming, gardening, and tinkering. He could fix anything. Ron helped his dad refurbish an old Farmall tractor. He adored spending time with his grandkids and took them fishing and for rides on the pontoon. Even when he didn't feel the best, he never gave up and always lived life to the fullest.
Survivors include his wife Lynn; children: Roxanne Mercer (Dave); Jason Tillman (Sarah); Joseph Kimsey (Hollie); and Heather Tillman; grandkids: Madison, Dakota, Dawson, Hayli, Jayden, Carlee, Shenandoah, and Lincoln; sisters: Nancy Carnahan (Clark) and Alice Williamsen (Dale); brothers: Ed Baumbach (Penny); Don Baumbach; Norman Fisher; Steve Hardman (Pam); and Danny Fisher (Sonja); and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life gathering will be held from 1-4 PM Saturday, August 9, 2025, at the Montgomery County History Center in Red Oak..
LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
