Birthplace: Creston, Iowa Resided In: Griswold, Iowa Roger Loren Rhoads, age 58, of Griswold, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Roger was born November 14, 1958 in Creston, Iowa the son of Harland LeRoy and Ila Maxine (Ploghoft) Rhoads. He was raised in Lewis, Iowa, graduated from the Griswold Community High School in 1977, and attended Buena Vista College. Roger drove a truck before starting in the insurance business and eventually owned and operated Rhoads Insurance for many years. Roger loved cars, kids, music, and was a sports enthusiast who was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Preceding him in death were his parents; half brothers: Max, Leland, Don, and Russell Rhoads; and half sisters: LaVerne Grieger and Isabell Fay. Survivors include his life partner: Deborah Jane Weaver of Griswold, IA; children: Barbie Weaver-Kempker and husband Steve of Hallsville, MO and Brock Weaver of Bondurant, IA; grandchildren: Shay Powers, Lindsey Whitt, Jacob Whitt, Bailey Powers, Jackson Weaver, and Rozlynn Weaver; great grandchildren: Graycen Whitt and Harvey Powers; siblings: Connie Griffin of Atlantic, IA; Carol Bullington and husband Chris of Stanton, IA; Nancy Thomas and partner Ross Schlueter of Atlantic, IA; Kent Rhoads and wife Deb of Walcott, IA; Cal Rhoads and wife June of Elkhorn, IA; and Roland Rhoads of Monticello, KY; sisters-in-law: Ann Paulsen and Dr. BJ England of Griswold, IA; Marlene Anderson and husband Ron of Council Bluffs, IA; Cindy Wohlenhaus and husband Brent of Griswold, IA; Pam Cornelius and husband Larry of Ames, IA; and Ann DeWitt of Kearney, MO; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. A celebration of life memorial gathering will be held from 6-9 PM Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the Griswold Community Building. There will be a private family service with burial in the Pleasant Township Cemetery at Griswold, Iowa prior to the memorial gathering. A memorial fund is being established in Roger's name. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel of Red Oak, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.
